What a Record of Work is — and when you need one

If you're a Licensed Building Practitioner who carries out or supervises restricted building work (the structural and weathertightness work on a home that needs a building consent), the Building Act 2004 requires you to provide a Record of Work when that work is done — to the owner and to the council (BCA). It lists who did the restricted building work and under which licence class. It's a small form that causes a surprising amount of end-of-job admin.
